The annual Caribbean Fashion Week 2008 (CFW)¬¨‚Ä†took place on June 11-16 in Kingston, Jamaica. The event was held at the National Indoors Sports Centre at Independence Park, in the National Stadium complex. It was one of the most high profile fashion events in the country and it truly rocked the crowds. This year, CFW reached its five-year mark.
Caribbean Fashion Week showcased some of the most spectacular fashion shows and couture creations by prominent and popular designers from the Caribbean region. The designs were a reflection of the lively Caribbean culture and each one of them brought the tropical spirit alive with vivid colors and flowy fabrics.
The CFW 2008 is touted as Caribbean’s biggest fashion event ever. Saint International stole the show with a fabulous outdoor fashion show called “Fashion Block”. Saint International also hosted an elite All-White Brunch at the exotic Strawberry Hill where the Saint Style Awards were announced.
A bevy of celebrity designers and international models made it a star-studded event. The event was divided into three segments- Friday night featured the Young Designers and the Caribbean Masters showed their stuff on Saturday night. Sunday night was exclusively dedicated to the International Collections.¬¨‚Ä† Rapper and movie star turned fashion mogul Eve, also showcased her own fashion line ‚Äö√Ñ√∫Fetish‚Äö√Ñ√π. Notable models included Nia Long, Vanessa A. Williams and Mashonda Dean among many others.
