While the rest of the world battles uncertainities posed by the recent economic crisis, designer Zac Posen refuses to let go of luxury and glamor- two characteristics that define his style. Posen recently showcased his brand new Pre-Fall 2009 collection in a fancy New York Bistro.
He defined his theme as “going back to the fundamentals” and described how glamor could be “recycled” when splurging on a couture dress seems hard on the pocket. The collection bore Posen’s trademark feminine cuts and an innovative use of precious jewels and stones. The detailing on the fabrics sought to redefine opulence and luxury. Trumpet skirts, a copper laser cut dress-coat and a feminine accordion pleated knitted dress and fringed dresses in cool pastels were among the eye-catchers.
The collection was aimed at women who have a slew of once-worn dresses that can be teamed up with one item from the collection for a whole new glamorous look. Posen’s ultra-stylish trench coats in animal prints were just the answer to a fashionista’s winter blues.
The theme and look of the show that was organized at Cercle Rouge were reminiscent of the glamorous 70′s in Paris. At a time when most designers are choosing to go the minimalistic way, Zac Posen continues to dazzle the ramps- albeit in a “recycled” way!
